We all know me and my church attendance have a complicated relationship. 😂
This morning, God willing, we were going—and let me tell you, the warfare was REAL.
I sat in the 7 Brew line for 30 MINUTES waiting on a coffee, Harley was falling asleep, Katerina was crying, and I was about two seconds away from saying, “Jesus, we tried.” 😂
But you know what?
We still made it.
Momma got her Jesus AND her coffee. 🤗☕️✝️
And something was said this morning that really stuck with me:
“Christianity isn’t supposed to be a religion. You practice Christianity. You don’t get into heaven because of your good acts; you get into heaven because of your relationship with Jesus.”
Ooooooh. THIS.
Because if getting into heaven depended on perfect Sunday attendance, perfect behavior, or checking every religious box… welp, I’d be screwed. 😂
But my faith has never been about pretending to be perfect.
My relationship with Jesus is about grace, accountability, love, growth, forgiveness, and learning how to love people where they are.
And honestly, I think that is a huge part of why I feel called to counsel and educate.

Yes, I am a Christian.
Yes, I am pursuing a career in mental health counseling.
And yes, I am a kink educator.
Those things might seem contradictory to some people, but to me, they aren’t.
My faith doesn’t call me to judge people I don’t understand.
It calls me to love people.
My education doesn’t teach me to shame people for who they are.
It teaches me to listen, understand, educate, and help people navigate their lives in healthier ways.
And my work in the kink community isn’t about encouraging people to abandon their values. It’s about education, consent, communication, boundaries, accountability, safety, and helping people understand themselves and one another.
I don’t believe I have to hide my faith to do that.
And I don’t believe I have to hide the communities I work with to be a Christian.
Jesus sat with people society wanted to avoid.
So why would I be afraid to sit with people who are misunderstood?
My calling isn’t to be perfect.
My calling is to serve, educate, counsel, love, and leave people better than I found them.
I may not always make it to church on Sunday.
I may be a little chaotic.
I may drink my coffee while questioning every life choice that brought me to the 7 Brew line. 😂
But my faith is strong.
And my relationship with Jesus matters to me more than checking a box ever could.
I am a Christian. I am a future counselor. I am a kink educator. And I refuse to believe those things have to exist in separate rooms.
Because at the center of all of it is the same thing:
People matter. ❤️✝️
